Product Description
The deity is centred in a tall, narrow composition that follows the shape of the panel. A colourful jewelled crown, orange and yellow garments and long garlands give the figure a rich, festive look, while the blue peacock fan and a small vessel at the base add colour at the bottom of the frame. The arch is filled with gold scrollwork, and the wide carved gold frame around the black panel sets off the whole picture. The product photograph carries the Madan Bihari Handicraft watermark, which confirms it is the studio's own image of the piece.
Bihari ji, or Banke Bihari, is the presiding deity of the famous temple at Vrindavan and is loved for his tribhang pose, bent at the neck, waist and knee. Devotees say his gaze is so affecting that the temple curtain is drawn at intervals during darshan. A painting of this form brings that Vrindavan devotion into the home, and it is among the most requested subjects in the Madan Bihari Products range.
