Product Description
Most Bihari ji paintings in this range use black or red backgrounds, but this one places the deity against a pale cream, marble-like surface. The change makes the arch, pillars and domes look like the interior of a white-marble temple. The deity stands in the classic bent posture, wearing a pink garland and gold ornaments, and the arch above is finished in gold. A dark wooden frame gives a strong outline. At 24 x 36 inches the figure is large enough for details such as the face, the flute and the garland to be appreciated even from across the room.
Bihari ji, or Banke Bihari, is the presiding deity of the famous temple at Vrindavan and is loved for his tribhang pose, bent at the neck, waist and knee. Devotees say his gaze is so affecting that the temple curtain is drawn at intervals during darshan. A painting of this form brings that Vrindavan devotion into the home, and it is among the most requested subjects in the Madan Bihari Products range.
