Product Description
Shrinathji is normally shown standing with one hand raised, a pose recalled here with a lotus held in the raised hand. The figure wears a tall crown, layered garlands and an elaborate jewelled chest ornament, all rendered in raised gold on a black ground. Small birds sit at the top of the arch and small animals stand at its sides, a detail that echoes the pichwai hangings of Nathdwara and ties the painting to that tradition. A wide gold border frames the panel, and the coloured flowers and beads add lively touches against the darker surface.
Shrinathji is the deity of the Nathdwara temple in Rajasthan and the central form of worship in the Pushtimarg tradition, where he is served as a beloved child. Pichwai-style details such as lotuses, cows and birds often surround him, and gold-relief paintings adapt those details in a rich, three-dimensional way that suits both homes and temples.
