Product Description
A golden-yellow backdrop gives this painting a bright, sunny mood, very different from the darker pieces in the range. The deity stands in orange and yellow garments with a jewelled crown, and white elephants placed on either side of the arch add a royal, ceremonial feel. A pink fan and a small pot at the base provide small points of contrast. Because the background is light, the gold relief shows more subtly than on a black panel, and the overall effect is warm and cheerful. It suits rooms with lighter walls where a black-background painting might feel heavy.
Bihari ji, or Banke Bihari, is the presiding deity of the famous temple at Vrindavan and is loved for his tribhang pose, bent at the neck, waist and knee. Devotees say his gaze is so affecting that the temple curtain is drawn at intervals during darshan. A painting of this form brings that Vrindavan devotion into the home, and it is among the most requested subjects in the Madan Bihari Products range.
