Product Description
The combination of a red mat and a gold carved frame makes this painting look like a traditional temple picture. Inside the mat, the deity stands with his flute, wearing soft pink and cream garments that contrast with the black panel and a gold arch that is topped with green leaves. The garments are decorated with small jewelled details, and the crown carries a prominent plume. Because the red border and the gold frame are both strongly coloured, the painting tends to stand out on a plain wall, and it looks especially good when it is hung at eye level beside a lamp or a small altar.
Bihari ji, or Banke Bihari, is the presiding deity of the famous temple at Vrindavan and is loved for his tribhang pose, bent at the neck, waist and knee. Devotees say his gaze is so affecting that the temple curtain is drawn at intervals during darshan. A painting of this form brings that Vrindavan devotion into the home, and it is among the most requested subjects in the Madan Bihari Products range.
